Boshimela burnt down on 27th July, 2007 in a fire that began in the plantation and devastated 80% of the surrounding forests. The landscape smouldered for days when the fire eventually burnt itself out and left a charred and blackened skeleton of a forest. Fortunately no one was injured in the fire and the only other home that was burned down was a smaller replica of Boshimela which was the first to go.
