Natural raffia makes ideal
curtaining. It does not fade easily, is durable, cool, and allows a breeze
through. When woven with polycotton it is strong and textured.
The curtains are woven in panels with a maximum width of 1.50m
and then joined. The weave runs vertically when hung as a finished
curtain. There are a variety of ways of joining the panels. They
can either be overlapped, or joined with a looped stitch or crocheted
in different materials or shades of raffia. Wintergrass curtains
have been beaded with great effect. This curtaining is frequently
used to decorate bush lodges, villas and outdoor areas.
