Roll out the mohair tufted/ribbed/cotton…mixed weave carpets…

This year has been characterized by a real demand for our mohair carpets.  We have taken and delivered orders for a huge variety of rugs – tufted mohair consisting of different colours, a beautiful tapestry mohair carpet in a bold design, cotton carpets, a diamond design mohair rug and we are about to begin a mixed weave carpet that will be more than seven meters long.

Our tufted rugs are a real investment, being the most expensive in our range as it involves a double weaving process and plenty of spinning to meet the demands of the thickly plied mohair.  A good spinner can spin an average of 800g per day and a tufted carpet uses about 6.3kg per square meter, whereas our other carpets use much less, making them quicker to produce.  The beauty of tufted carpets is their softness and longevity.  They start with the tufts initally standing  upright and densly packed and thickly piled.  Later in life, they become silky and smooth and take on a patina that comes with use – I have an original carpet woven by Coral for her sitting room, which has developed a silkiness and is unblemished by age.  There is a fluff factor as over the years the texture of the carpet will change sometimes quite drammatically, being a natural fiber that is untouched by chemicals and synthetic fibers and treatments this is part of the character of the carpet.

We recently had a client in France who had ordered a carpet which was successfully delivered and installed and admired by the client.  She was in South Africa and planned a visit to Swaziland to see where her carpet was made and visited our workshop, was able to meet the team that made the rug and thank them for their work.  It is gratifying for all of us that the clients take an interest in the origin of their purchases and adds a layer of satisfaction where a connection is made and a journey is completed.

    Hi,

My husband bought me a double bed mohair blanket in Swaziland. The colour is not perfect. Is it possible to send it back and order another one?

    Kind regards
    Chrisna
